The art of Reiki rests on a masseurs ability to channel universal life energy through their hands into the body of their client. The client will be immersed in organic energy – often called energy from the universe – and this energy inoculates areas of the body that need the most attention.

Reiki is often referred to as an intelligent energy since it recognizes blocks and negative energies and is directed to those areas in need. As a result, healing takes place on a profound and deep level – exactly what you’d expect.

You might be wondering how Reiki feels. It’s difficult to explain a feeling so spiritual. One of the best ways to really understand Reiki is to actually have a treatment and all the questions will be answered.

The Development of Reiki

Reiki was developed in 1922 by Buddhist Dr Mikao Usui. He came from a wealthy family and as a child was a talented and hardworking student. He chose to read and learn medicine, psychology, fortune telling and theology of various religions around the world.

Usui studied and travelled extensively to Western countries and China several times. He took a form of meditation that lasted for 21 days. It was during the 21-day meditation that Usui found the energy for his system of healing – Reiki. It is most likely that he incorporated knowledge from his vast background of studies such as Chinese medicine, Eastern healing system like Chi Gong, acupressure and others.

Reiki is ideal for anyone with mental health issues such as past emotional trauma’s, depression and anxiety. During a Reiki treatment, recipients often notice a releasing of past emotional trauma’s. It’s a common occurrence for recipients to state they’ve released years of suppressed and restrained emotional hurt from the past.

Finally, they are feeling free from it. Often, crying occurs during this releasing process as the body is the conduit to process through the negative and painful memories.

The Lineage of Reiki

The higher up a Reiki master initiates its graduate, the stronger the power of Reiki. Our masseur, George, had Reiki treatments from practitioners of whom are over 20 masters down from the Reiki lineage. Their Reiki usually appears weaker. Why does that occur? Because the further the energy from the source (Dr Mikao Usui) the more diluted and tainted it becomes.

That means you should be careful when choosing who does your Reiki treatment. At Relaxellent, we can ensure our Reiki services are as close to the starting lineage as possible. George was in fact initiated in Reiki in 1993 by Klaudia Hochhuth, who is just fourth in lineage from Dr Usui. Thus allowing our Reiki treatment to be as pure and untainted as possible.
